No more

I just committed Myspace suicide. Here are some various reasons:

The hours I've lost, the hours that effortlessly got sucked into the nothingness of Myspace. And the potential those hours had for something better.

Maybe that I don't like how I'm portrayed, even though I'm portraying myself. We're all trying to out-portray each other. With this ( Read more... )

It's from The Republic (by Plato, obviously). Good stuff.
So far, I have one day without Myspace with only minimal withdrawal symptoms :)

MySpace can be so superficial. I think it's interesting to see what people from high school are up to and look like now, but if it weren't for that, I wouldn't use it at all. Like, when you get friends requests from random strangers, and you go to their profile and they have 16835 friends--What's the point of that?

Oh, I saw your house today! I had to go to the MVA after work, and took the shortcut over to E. Church St. (Monroe to Highland) on the way home. I recognized it because of the yellow trim--that is absolutely darling!

Oh yes, I loved finding people I went to school with only to find that they have like 2 kids and work at the local Friendlys. I's especially satisfying if they were especially popular and/or smart.

That's awesome that you saw my house! Our intention was to make it pop a little more than the other houses with the paint and everything, I'm glad it worked! (I still can't believe you're just a few miles away...)

It's also fantasic when you find people who were really pretty and stuck-up in high school, and now they're fat. Haha!

You know, we really need to meet up. I've been wishing forever that I could meet some people in the area with whom I actually have some common interests. With the exception of one of two people, none of my friends are into stuff like retro, reading, Sedaris, crafty stuff, etc. And I can't believe we're only a few miles apart. That's so crazy!

So far, day 1 of no Myspace, and I'm doing okay.
My fiance was complaining, "who am I going to have as number one in my top 8 now??" (Like it was a legitimate question)
You should go for it. I feel great. And I'm seriously looking forward to some new found free time :)
