What... What is this?

[Wishbone whimpers and spins around frantically, as if that could help him find Oakdale. Eventually figuring out that it isn't working, the little dog sits down to try and think about this rationally.]

Alright Wishbone, you are suddenly in a forest. You remember falling asleep on the deck, but now you are in the forest. [ ( Read more... )

[...It's a talking, winged dog. It's a talking, winged Jack Russell Terrier.

....That is adorable.

Maybe he can read, otherwise this is going to be a disaster.]

You're in Luceti.

[Writing is a little bit tedious for him, so he'll just have to do this instead.]

Luceti? What's Luceti?

Is that where the dream people live?

I'm afraid to tell you this isn't a dream. Luceti is... many people have been brought here from their homes.

But it must be a dream! I'm just a dog! People don't usually talk to me.

[Presea was just heading back from the market, hands filled with large paper bags. While away in the draft, most of the food went bad, or got eaten by Zelos, and since it was (more or less) her responsibility to get groceries, she had done so today, just to stock up. It's during the walk home that she spies a small animal.]

...Doggy.

[And it wasn't Repede, either. This was a different doggy. Did he belong to someone, too? She sets down her bag and approaches slowly, crouching down and extending a hand.]

[A little later on, Wishbone is moving as quietly through the alleyways and streets as a little dog with wings possibly could. It smells so real! He is still not totally convinced that this is not a dream.

At the voice, he glances up at girl holding groceries. He barks and raises his front paws up in the air to show off how well he could beg.]

Mm...good boy.

[H-How cute... Presea smiles and takes the necessary steps forward to give him a gentle pat on the head. He was friendly, that's easy to tell. And...a new resident? he had the wings given to all New Feathers, so...maybe he didn't have an owner? Poor thing. Presea's tempted to just take him home, maybe foster him for a while until someone claims him... Would Sheena and Zelos approve of that? Ah...]

Are you...lost, doggy?

Uhh.... Not really I guess.

[Wishbone says, sitting down and offering up a paw.]

This village is Luceti right?

[... Wishbone, you are probably the most adorable thing Melanie has seen in a while. A talking dog with wings. What's not to love about that?]

Sorry to say, but you're in a place called Luceti... and you're not dreaming, either.

...but if you can talk to me, that means it's a dream...

People don't usually listen to me y'know.

[You think he's adorable now? He isn't even trying!]

I'm Wishbone, who are you?

[Because you should never be impolite to anyone, not even dream people.]

You'd be surprised by the things that can talk here. [... Well, no, considering he's a TALKING DOG he probably wouldn't be.

And slag it, he is so cute.]

It's nice to meet you, Wishbone. I'm Melanie.

Hi Melanie!

I'm not so sure... the lack of cookies raining from the sky does help your case, but...

Hey, if this is happening (and I'm not saying that it is) it would make a great story wouldn't it? A heroic dog swept away into an unfamiliar land to battle monsters and such. Of course I wouldn't actually want to fight monsters if I really am here.

[He is only a dog after all. He is brave and dashing, but he isn't stupid.]

Well... I just woke up here.... so I guess I did! What's Luceti?

Well, from what I got, Luceti is some kind of... alternate dimension. I know it sounds a little bit strange, but it's not that bad. [Except the war part. That part is bad man...]

[...

Non-human sapient. Visible non-human sapient. But one Robert actually recognizes, albeit still only vaguely. Domesticated animals are not common on Terra, and sapient ones would be out of the question (outside the genetic black markets at least).

... Shaking off the initial shock, Robert assumes his usual professional, matter-of-fact tone.]

Ah...

... I regret to inform you that... th-this place is quite objectively real.

Unless one were to... d-discount all data received in this place as impossible to prove, wh-which would be an untenable position logically, the amount of self-sustaining information here, with c-consistency and internal accuracy, is too high to discount out of hand...

[... The tl;dr version of that is that the sheer amount of non-contradictory information here is proof in itself, which isn't necessarily true...]
