Who knows what this was supposed to be about?

I've got a lot of disjointed thoughts that I'm trying to manage in the hour before tutoring starts and I start earning money. In some kind of organization, then.

I heard back from the study abroad office, and I'm 99% guaranteed to be attending Queen Mary University of London. I'm incredibly looking forward to going abroad, and incredibly nervous, ( Read more... )

I am sorry about the Farber situation, at least you can grumble to someone about the class an scowl meaningfully. Strangely enough people tend to bond the best under tyranny. If I was writing the journal entry, I'd just muse on stuff but with better diction. Take apart the word, look at the etymology reference it to events in RL. I think it's weird your classmates write about themselves in scenes--I'm not going to lie, that had not even occurred to me ( ... )

I have totally done the etymology thing (our prompt was about regret, rue, and remorse, and I went on about how those are different things because of the way that they sound). And yes, yes, it is true about cohesion under dictators against dictators.

I simply have never had a thing for blondes, so Satan can't be a blonde for me. He's gotta have dark hair, or perhaps dark red hair. I can definitely see Neil Gaiman both as the untempted and as the Satan. So crazy.

Read it! Soon. I shall say no more.

And also-- taking your own approach to the journals is a good thing, I think. It doesn't sound like there's a ton to be said for formatting, anyway.

And YAY about London!

And (too many ands starting my sentences! Ah! Have you ever seen Finding Forrester?) "that forbidden fruit, whose mortal taste brought death into the... blammagam."

Gah, I know I've seen Finding Forrester, but I don't remember that line! It is priceless and may find its way into my story. :)

Haha the line is not from Finding Forrester. I'm ADD at the moment, perhaps? The "and" was a Finding Forrester thing. The quote is from "Words, Words, Words" (one of the one acts I'm stage managing).

About being wrong as a misconception -- I had the realization that I could read it that way when I was taking a shower shortly after writing this. And as for this:

"maybe we live in a perfect world where "evil" is a deficiency in your perception and doing wrong is acting on misperception"

It makes me think a lot about William Blake's worldview. I think you would probably like him if you got to know him. :)

YAY!!! For London!! Though really, was there any doubt? :P
I found a book recently that I should loan you; It's called When in London, produced by sparknotes. Basically a travel guide directed at people going for study abroads. Also, random tip, the currency exchange place at the South Coast plaza has a program where you can sign up for a kind of debit card, valid anywhere Mastercard is accepted, which is a lot of places in the UK. And money can be put on it any time, by either you or relatives at home. I've got the little booklet they gave me, I can give that to you at some point over spring break or when school's out. Eee, I'm so excited for you!! :D

Speaking of spring break, we should get together whenever you're home.

Ooh, yes for bookloan and money info! I am so psyched bordering on so stressed at the fact that in six months, I'll be moving to a foreign country! I want to get more travel books for people planning on staying for more than three weeks...I hear that Lonely Planet is good, but I plan on checking it out.

I'm home for spring break from March 20-28, and we should totally hang out and squee about London. :)

Ah, hey, but journal writing is a separate kind of writing (unstructured prose but autobiographical). Though if others are writing scenes...

Kit is not that faithful...as a Young Wizard. But perhaps when he's younger...

...which means Satan did win at some point. Having such a strong image of these scenes is a good incentive to write, though! (It's the in-between parts that are hard.)

I had/have Star Wars bedsheets.

And finally, I agree with eristocracy. *grin*

I am really not surprised by your Star Wars bedsheets. In the YW universe, I think you'd be the male version of Dairine. (You have read these books...right? Or am I making this up?)

And the visualization thing is so true. I just need to sit down and write it.
