Junior year plans

Because it's never too early to plan ahead (at least not if you're my mother) I've been looking into options for studying abroad in the UK or Ireland during my junior year. Right now I'm only looking at options that are available through Berkeley's Education Abroad Program, because they're generally cheaper, easier to organize, and credits ( Read more... )

I really want to go to Dublin...I'm just not sure I want my first experience with the city to be living there for a year.

Hey, I'm actually looking into an exchange trip in the London area (through CSU Fullerton) for that same time period!! Spring of '10 for me :)

And as for they money issue... you can always take out student loans for that, and they often have scholarships that are study-abroad specific. :)

That's great! I don't know when I'll be there yet...might be fall, might be spring, might even be the whole year. And I am certainly looking into scholarships and the like.

I think studying abroad is a wonderful opportunity you should take advantage of if it doesn't put you behind in your classes. I wish I could do it, but that's one of the down sides of being a science major. If you're worried about the money, I say put aside a good deal of the money you make over the summer so when the time comes to confront your parents, you can at least offer to share in the payment. That shows maturity, responsibility, and also shows how much thought you've put into your decision.
