It would be more convenient

Today I went to the optometrist to have my eyes checked, and to discuss the possibility of contact lenses. In addition to discovering that I have astigmatism in addition to myopia (I didn't know this), I also learned that my eyes are 63 mms (presumably measuring from the centre of each one) apart. Useless knowledge FTW? (In return I imparted on him ( Read more... )

Contact lenses are nice. :D

Oooh, good luck with the rewriting on the novel! I know you can do it. :D

And Timothy Zahn is a very good writer. :D

Is it difficult to adjust to?

Thanks!

Indeed. The fact that I stayed up til 3AM to finish reading the novel is testament to his skills.

It can be an adjustment to go from glasses to contacts, especially if you've never worn them before. And I have to use eyedrops on occasion if my contacts start getting to dry. Aside from that, after about twelve hours of wearing them, I usually need to get them out and put my glasses back on. (It's usually night when I do that.) And I know you have to make sure you have the right fit and the right prescription. I had to go to the eye doctor three times before they found the right contact for my left eye. It was just blurry. Some contact brands are more comfortable than others, too. I think I use a brand called PurVision? I know they tried another brand on me and I couldn't stand them in my eyes. That's why it's good to do the trial pairs until you find ones that are comfortable for you.

First-person sounds very interesting, especially since this is Iris we're talking about. :D Good to hear the first test run with contacts went well -I wonder if you're planning on trying out any different coloured ones, though?

It's going surprisingly well so far. We'll see if it holds.

I don't really have plans to try different colours. My eyes are pretty dark; I'm not sure how effective an attempt to change it would be.

That's a relief. :D I guess it's just something that will take getting used to.
