Introductions

I suggest that anyone who is participating in this community take a moment to introduce themselves by commenting to this post.

My own formal academic background in the Classics amounts to an O-Level in Latin in 1983, and a masters thesis on a medieval astrological text (written in bad Latin in England in the 1190s), plus whatever leisure reading on the subject I can manage. I have dipped into Gibbon before, but this is my first serious effort to get through the whole D&F.

Apart from reading Gibbon and anything else I can lay my hands on, I work in international politics in Brussels. Who knows what resonances I will discover from this project for my day job?
