Title: Just a High School Love Story - both real and fiction ^^ ~ 1/?
Pairing: Yewook, Eunhae, Kyumin, Hanchul, Kangteuk, Sibum
Summary: Ryeowook moves to a new school where things are definitely different. In less than an hour, he has four new friends. In less than a few hours, he has a crush/admirer. And after 24 hours, he's the most popular guy in school. How's a shy guy suppose to deal with all this?

A/N: written in celebration of my 1 year of writing fanfic. Originally planned as a oneshot but now not sure how long this will go. Since it’s for me ^^, Yewook is the main coupling followed by Eunhae and Kyumin, then the others. Was going to post this so much earlier on my actual anniversary but when that failed, was going to post on my b-day. That failed and was going to post when finished school but that failed so now (finally) posting on my 3rd year of writing fanfic XD along with a new layout ^^ (didn’t want to just represent Suju in my journal since I now write others like EXO and maybe SHINee in the future…) hope you like ^^

Chapter 1

Today was the first day of school and Ryeowook was feeling nervous. His family had just moved so he could go to a better school. He nervously tugged on the collar of his uniform shirt and stared up at his school. It was so much nicer than anything in his hometown. He took a deep breath before walking as confidently as he could into the school.

~

As soon as he walked through the doors, all his built up confidence left him. He felt small as he looked at everyone moving around, happily talking with one another. He looked around, trying to remember where the office was.
Someone bumped into him, causing him to fall.
“Oh, sorry. Or are you new here?”
“Aww, he’s cute and lost. We should adopt him.”
Ryeowook looked up and saw 2 guys looking at him. One looked so cute, carrying a pink bag and pink cell phone with a bunny charm. The other looked kinda sloppy next to the first guy.
“Hey, Hyukkie, Minnie, why are you guys just standing there?” Another guy came up and slung his arms around the sloppy looked one. He fixed his hair before turning to look down at him.
“ *squeal* He’s so cute. Hi, my name is Donghae and you’re now my little protégé.”
Ryeowook felt himself be picked up off the floor and dust brushed off of him.
“You must be new here. Come on, I’ll take you to the office. I’ll see you later, Hyukkie, Minnie. Lunch, okay?” Donghae waved before dragging Ryeowook away before he could even say anything.

~

Donghae led Ryeowook through what seemed like a maze of hallways before stopping in front of a door. He opened the door and pulled Ryeowook inside.
“Teukie, I have a new baby for you but you can’t have him since I saw him first. He’s my little protégé.”
“What are you talking about, Hae?” Another guy came out of one of the offices. “ *squeal* He’s so adorable. Hi, my name is Park Jungsu but people call me Leeteuk or Teukie. So you’re a new student? You wouldn’t happen to be Kim Ryeowook?”
Ryeowook shyly nodded his head.
Leeteuk smiled brightly.
“Good. I have your things ready for you.” He handed Ryeowook a stack of papers. He pulled out a piece of paper and gave it to Ryeowook.
“This is your schedule. Now come with me and I’ll show you around.”
“I’m coming too.”
“You have class, Hae.”
“But he’s -“
“Go to class, Hae. He’s in good hands. Remember, you’re my baby and I don’t think you’re ready to have your own. You -“
“La la la la la, I can’t hear you. I’ll see you later, Wookie. Bye, Teukie. Don’t forget to give ma copy of his schedule.” Donghae smiled and waved, rushing away to class.
Teukie shook his head before turning to smile at Ryeowook. “Can I see your schedule?”
Ryeowook handed it over to Leeteuk. He quickly scanned it and smiled.
“Well this is easy. Alright, your general classes will be on the 1st and 2nd floor. 3rd floor is where your music classes will be held. That’s where all electives are. The cafeteria is on the 1st and 2nd floor. There are 2 different lunch periods. Thankfully, you have lunch with me and Hae. You’ll also get to meet my other babies, Eunhyuk and Sungmin. You actually have some classes with Sungmin. I’ll introduce you two. So you’re taking piano, singing, and music composition? Do you want to be a composer?”
Ryeowook blushed. “Uh yeah. I really love music.”
“That’s good. Are you a good singer?”
“Uh…I’m just average.”
Leeteuk smiled. “Alright, I think you’re lying but I’ll leave it alone for now. Come on, let me show you your classes before lunch. All general classes are in the morning before lunch. Afterwards are elective classes. Most people have either 4 or 5 general classes, depending on what electives/major they’re aiming for. Since you’re music, you have 4. I’m going to be a teacher so I have 5, but since I’m the office assistant, I can eat whichever lunch I want. I normally eat an early lunch then work again. My job takes up 2 of my classes (it’s only 1 but the principal likes me so much he changed it for me). Now this is your math class with Sungmin. Over there is your Korean language class with Eunhyuk and Donghae. Over there is your science class with Donghae. Be warned. Be very careful with Donghae as your partner. Now that is your English language class with Sungmin and Donghae.”
Leeteuk looked at his watch. “It’s almost lunchtime so we should make our way there before the lines get long. Sorry I couldn’t show you where your electives were but maybe Sungmin or Donghae can help. I think they have classes nearby or the same one. Now come on. Let’s go eat. I’m starving.”
Ryeowook followed Leeteuk to the 2nd level cafeteria. He took the tray from Leeteuk and followed him. He looked at all the food, wondering what to get. He felt some weight on his tray and looked at it. Leeteuk was slowly piling food onto his tray.
Leeteuk caught Ryeowook staring and smiled. “You need to eat some more. You look so thin and small. Besides, the food is really good. I want you to try everything.”

~

Once their trays were loaded, Ryeowook followed Leeteuk to a table by the window. Leeteuk dug into his food as soon as he sat down.
Ryeowook just sat down and stared at his food.
“Wookie!!!” Ryeowook looked up in surprise as a figure wrapped around him. “How are you? Know where everything is?”
“Yes except for these classes.” He pulled out his schedule and pointed to his last few classes. Donghae’s eyes lit up as he looked at Ryeowook’s schedule.
“Wow, we have 3 classes together. OMG, you’re in that class?!?” Donghae stared at Ryeowook in amazement. “Wow, you must be amazing. Let’s leave lunch early and I’ll show you where your classes are. That’s the least I can do for my protégé.”
“Teukie, you’re seriously letting Hae have a protégé?”
Ryeowook looked up to see the two guys he had bumped into earlier.
“Hi, sorry about bumping into you earlier. I’m Lee Hyukjae but you can call me Eunhyuk.”
“Hi, I’m Lee Sungmin. Teukie, you can’t be serious about Hae having a protégé. You said none of us were ready yet.”
“You aren’t, most of all Hae. If I was going to let any of you have one, it would be Minnie.” Sungmin smiled triumphantly.
“But none of you are ready.” Everyone frowned.
“But I have a new project for you guys.” Leeteuk smiled. “Ryeowook will be all of your protégé,” everyone smiled, “and my special little baby. I will watch over all of you and see how well you do. Now, I will leave you four alone to get to know each other. Don’t be shy, Ryeowook. These three will become your closest friends.”
Leetuek smiled, picked up his tray, and left for work. Ryeowook looked away from Leeteuk’s retreating back to see the three Leees smiling at him.
“So how old are you, Wookie?”
“Uh…16.”
Sungmin and Donghae squealed. Both clung onto him.
“Aww, you’re such a baby.”
“You’re so young.”
“Uh how old are you guys.”
“17.”
Ryeowook looked surprised. “Oh…”
“So where are you from?”
“Uh…Incheon.”
“Ooo…Donghae’s from outside the city too.”
“I’m from Mokpo.”
“So what are your hobbies?”
“Look at his schedule and you’ll know.” Donghae smiled triumphantly as he waved Ryeowook’s schedule around. Eunhyuk plucked it out of Donghae’s hands and laid it on the table.
Ryeowook decided to take this time to try the food and look around. There were so many students. He jolted when he saw someone staring intensely at him. Ryeowook looked down in embarrassment. When he looked back up, the guy was gone.
“Ooo…look, he has classes with at least one of us. That’s good. We can all watch over him.”
“But what about his electives?”
“He’s near us so that’s okay. But I can’t believe he’s in that class. He must be amazing.”
“I really want to hear him.”
“Maybe later. I think he’s still a little shy.”
“Hey guys, lunch is almost over and we still need to show him where his classes are.”
“But we didn’t get a chance to talk.”
“After school. Now come on.”
Ryeowook felt someone tugging on him and he just blindly followed.

~

“Hey Yesung, why did we have lunch early?”
“Because I felt like it. And we need to start practicing.”
Kyuhyun looked at Yesung skeptically. “Sure…when our next, our first performance, is before winter break.”
“We have small showcases like those back-to-school events and stuff.”
“Right and this had nothing to do with you staring at that new kid.” Yesung glared at Kyuhyun, who smirked. “Alright, alright. I won’t say anything more for now. I’ll just gloat about this later.”
Yesung sighed and just walked ahead of Kyuhyun who was quietly laughing to himself.

~

“”Alright, this is where you’ll have your piano classes with me. Over there is your music composition class with Hae. I have guitar class next to piano. Eunhyuk and Hae have dance together across the hall. Me and Hae have singing over here and your singing class,” Sungmin walked further down the hall, “is right here.”
They stopped in front of two double doors.
“Thank you, Sungmin hyung.”
“Oh, no hyung. We’re friends right? Besides, you’re our new baby. I’ll pick you up after classes are done. Just wait right here. Don’t go anywhere unless one of us is with you, okay?”
Ryeowook nodded. “Thank you. Bye.” He waved and walked through the doors, oblivious to all the stares.
The moment he walked through the doors, he stopped and stared. The room was beautifully furnished. A grand piano stood in the center of the room with 3 chairs and music stands next to it. Someone was sitting in front of the piano while someone was standing in front of a chair. Both turned to stare at him.
Ryeowook felt his breath leave his body as his eyes connected with those eyes that had been staring at him before. He blushed and looked down. “H-h-hi. Uh…is-is this - ?”
“Are you Kim Ryeowook?” Ryeowook looked up in surprise and nodded.
“Good, come here.” He slowly walked towards the piano. He stopped a meter away.
“I’m Cho Kyuhyun and he’s Kim Jongwoon or Yesung. Don’t ask, you’ll see why later.”
Ryeowook closed his mouth and slightly pouted. Yesung cracked a small smile before fixing his expression. Kyuhyun took note of this before turning back to Ryeowook.
“Alright, before we can start, we need to test you. Not everyone can get into this class. The fact that you’ve been added when you just got here must mean something. So choose a song and sing.”
Ryeowook looked from Kyuhyun to Yesung and back. “Uh…may I have a seat?”
Kyuhyun moved away and Ryeowook sat down. He took a deep breath before beginning to play. Kyuhyun was about to say something when Ryeowook opened his mouth and began to sing.
Kyuhyun stopped and stared, listening to the song. He smiled to himself as he listened to the whole song. He glanced over and saw Yesung staring at Ryeowook with glazed eyes. He laughed to himself and none too gently elbowed Yesung just before Ryeowook ended his song.
Yesung glared at him, rubbing his stomach, and looked towards the piano to see Ryeowook staring at him. He felt his face turn red but kept a blank expression as he looked at Ryeowook.
Kyuhyun smiled before turning to Ryeowook. “Very nic but let’s see if you can harmonize with us. Here,” he gave Ryeowook a sheet of music, “study the first verse for 10 minutes then we’ll start.”
Ryeowook studied the music while Kyuhyun moved next to Yesung. “What do you think?”
“He’s absolutely amazing.”
“I’m talking about his singing.”
“So am I. What do you think I’m talking about?” Kyuhyun just looked at him. “What? No!?!? How can you -“
“Uh, excuse me, sorry to interrupt but I think it’s been 10 minutes already.”
Kyuhyun smiled reassuringly at Ryeowook. “Of course, sorry about that. Are you ready?”
Ryeowook nodded. Yesung glanced at the clock before moving next to the piano. Kyuhyun walked over to the piano and pressed the starting key. Yesung started off before Kyuhyun joined him.
Ryeowook was amazed by Yesung’s voice but didn’t let that distract him. He blended his voice harmoniously with the two. Kyuhyun smiled and nodded at Ryeowook to begin singing the first verse.
Yesung watced as Ryeowook poured his emotions into that one verse. He couldn’t lose and added just as much feeling.
Kyuhyun grinned, watching the two, and added his emotions to even it out.
Surprisingly, they sang through the whole song. When they finished, Ryeowook opened his eyes to see Kyuhyun and Yesung looking at him.
“Well, I think that’s all for now. We’ll see you tomorrow.”
Ryeowook nodded and bowed before leaving the room. He turned around to be met with a gaping Donghae and smiling Sungmin. “What?”
“You-you’re-you’re-“
“Come on, Ryeowook, let’s get you to your next class. Just ignore Donghae for now. Eunhyuk, take Donghae to class.”
Eunhyuk nodded and led the still gaping Donghae away. Sungmin smiled as he steered Ryeowook into their piano class.
“Just sit at a piano and play. This time is mainly just for practicing whatever you want. It’s not a really rigid class structure.”
“Oh…then do you think maybe I can skip and see my music composition teacher?”
“Sure, come on.”

~

Sungmin smiled as he opened the door to Ryeowook’s next class. “I’ll see you here in an hour, ok?”
Ryeowook nodded and waved goodbye. He turned around and saw someone looking at him. “Uh…hello. Um…my name is Kim Ryeowook. I-I’m here to learn -“
“- music composition. Yes, I know. Come here and show me what you have.”
Ryeowook reached into his bag and pulled out his notebook. “Uh…this is just a little something I’m working on. It’s -“
The teacher grabbed the book from his hands and skimmed through it. Ryeowook was going to explain some things when the teacher snapped the book shut and looked at him.
“Come back here tomorrow at 2:30. That is all. You may leave.” The teacher walked away, carrying Ryeowook’s book.
Ryeowook stood there, still trying to absorb everything that happened. He walked out of the room and made his way down the hall, back towards his piano class. He was still shocked he didn’t see where he was going and bumped into someone.
“Oh I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Are you okay?” Ryeowook helped the guy get up and dust himself off. The guy looked up and Ryeowook stood stock-still. He felt his face turn red.
“Uh…uh…I’m-I’m sorry.” He bowed low and scurried away.
Yesung stared at Ryeowook’s retreating form, still a little shocked over what had happened.
“You so like him.”
Yesung looked over his right shoulder to see Kyuhyun grinning at him. He decided not to even respond. “I have to go practice.”
Kyuhyun considered it a confession and victory and followed Yesung to continue teasing him.

~

Ryeowook walked into his classroom with his head bowed down and sat at the closest piano. He just sat there for a while.
Sungmin saw this and came over. He sat on the bench next to him and placed an arm around his shoulders. “Are you okay, Wookie?”
Ryeowook nooded his head.
“Are you sure?”
Another nod.
Sungmin was about to ask another question when Ryeowook put his hands on the keys and began playing a song. Sungmin watched Ryeowook for a while and decided to leave him alone for now. They could talk after school.

~

Sungmin tapped Ryeowook on the shoulder before he could play another song. He looked up in surprise.
“It’s time to go.”
“Oh…” Ryeowook packed up his things and followed Sungmin.
They stopped outside one of the classrooms. Sungmin went inside, followed by Ryeowook. He stopped and stared at Eunhyuk and Donghae dancing together. He was impressed with the way they moved together, as one with the music and each other.
Sungmin walked over and turned the music off, causing Donghae and Eunhyuk to come out of their daze. “Come on, it’s time to go.”
The two packed up and followed Sungmin outside. The four took the subway and got off at Dongdaemun. They went over toe Doota! and went up to the top floor to Red Mango. They all ordered something before taking a seat on the rooftop garden.
“So Ryeowook…why did you move here?”
“How was your first day?”
“Uh…” Ryeowook looked from Sungmin to Donghae, unsure of who to answer first.
“My question first since it’s easy.”
“Uh I moved here because of my parents. They wanted me to go to a better school so they got me an audition to this school and surprisingly I got in.”
“Aww…that’s so sweet and great of your parents. They must really love you.”
“Uh yeah…I didn’t want to but my mom thought I had the potential to become a great singer and wanted me to go for it. So she got me the audition and everything.”
“Aww…your mom is amazing. I wanna meet here.”
Ryeowook smiled. “Maybe some time later…”
“I’ll keep you to that.”
“Now my question.”
“Uh…well I only had lunch and electives.”
“Oh…we’ll catch you up on your general classes but continue with your electives. How was singing?”
“Uh…” Ryeowook could feel his face heating up. “Well…I didn’t think it’d be such a small class. But uh…K-Kyuhyun gae me a test and uh…Yesung had such an amazing voice, they both do. I was really nervous singing with them. But how come it was only those two in that class? I thought more people would take singing. I mean aren’t you two -“
“Yeah but we’re not good enough. That’s the top singing class and you’re talented enough to get into it on the first try.”
“You’re special!”
Ryeowook blushed, completely embarrassed.
“You know, everyone is going to know your face and name now, just because you’re in that class and have the talent for it.”
“But-but…”
“Don’t worry. We’ll protect you.”
“Yeah since you’re our protégé and little baby.”
“So how were your other electives?”
“Piano is whatever but my music composition teacher is so weird. He kicked me out after looking at my notebook.” Ryeowook pouted, missing the look that passed between the three.
“Well don’t worry, Wookie. It’ll be okay. Don’t worry about it. How about we help you with your general classes since you missed the first day?”
Ryeowook nodded, making the others smile. They pulled out their books and began to teach Ryeowook what they learned. He was a quick learner, which please the three.
“Hey Ryeowook, how come you blushed when we mentioned singing earlier?”
“Wh-what?”” Ryeowook could feel his face heating up again. He covered his cheeks with his hands and looked down.
“Aww, Wookie, you’re so cute when you’re embarrassed.” Donghae clung onto Ryeowook, almost squeezing him to death.
“Donghae, Donghae, you’re hurting him.” Eunhyuk came over and pulled Donghae away from Ryeowook.
Sungmin came over, checking if Ryeowook was okay.
“You have a crush, don’t you?”
“Uh-what? N-n-no…I-I don’t have a crush. H-h-how could I?”
“I don’t know but I do know you blush at the mention of,” Sungmin leaned over to whisper in Ryeowook’s ear, “Yesung.”
Ryeowook felt his cheeks heat up. He covered them, willing them to cool down.
Sungmin smiled knowingly and sympathetically as he hugged Ryeowook, trying to comfort him.
“Our Wookie has a crush on Yesung? Aww, that’s so adorable.” Donghae was about to pounce on Ryeowook but Eunhyuk kept a tight hold of Donghae’s waist. Donghae struggled but failed to get out of Eunhyuk’s surprisingly strong grip. He pouted and crossed his arms.
“Hyukkie…let me go. Why can’t I hug Wookie?”
“Because you’ll squeeze him to death.”
“No I won’t.”
“Yes, you will. Now if you’re a good boy, I’ll let you go.”
Donghae pouted but calmed down. Eunhyuk smiled and gently let go of Donghae to his slight disappointment.
Donghae smiled and sprinted over to Ryeowook’s side. “Aww Wookie, you are way too cute. You have a crush on Yesung but I think you are way too cute for him. He’s too-too…he’s not right for you. You’re total opposites. He’s so quiet and stoci, always has a blank expression on his face.”
“No, it’s a bored expression.”
“It doesn’t matter. Our Wookie is just too good for him. He hangs out with Kyuhyun and Kibum, the two most snarkiest, quietest, stoic people in the whole school, but also the hottest. Almost everyone is attracted to that bad boy, dark brooding mysterious aura. Sungmin can tell you about it.”
Ryeowook looked at Sungmin.
“Me and Kyuhyun don’t have a very good relationship. He teases and makes fun of me a lot. We’ve known each other since middle school, which is when it all started. I never did anything to him but he likes to single me out. I try to stay out of his way as much as possible but he always manages to find me.” Sungmin pouted. “Wish he’d leave me alone.”
“You have no idea how many times Sungmin ended up in tears because of Kyuhyun.”
“Let’s not bring that up. Just know you’re probably better off having as little contact with them as you can.”
“Because you have a class with them, just deal with it as best as you can. Don’t interact more than necessary. Just be polite in class and avoid them every other time.”
Ryeowook nodded, taking in all their advice. He glanced down at his watch and panicked. “Oh no, I need to get home.”
The others looked at their watch and freaked out as well.
“Oh shoot. I gotta go. I’ll see you tomorrow. Meet at our usual place.”
“We’ll come get you and show you tomorrow morning. Bye.”
The four headed to the subway and took it back towards school. Eunhyuk and Donghae got off at one stop. Sungmin got off at another and Ryeowook got off one stop after Sungmin. He was walking home when he recognized a certain pink bag a couple meters in front of him.
“Sungmin?”
Sungmin turned around, an expression of surprise written on his face. “Ryeowook? What are you doing here?”
“I live over there.” He pointed to a building up ahead to his right.
“OMG! I live there too. Which floor?”
“11th.”
“I’m on 12th but that means I’m right about you. Oh yay, we can go to school together now. Ooo…I’m so excited. I never got to walk with someone, which is why my parents had me take martial arts to protect myself but now that you’re here, we can keep each other company on our way home and I can protect both of us in case of rapers or molesters. Well this is your floor. What room are you in?”
“32.”
“Oh alright. I’ll come get you tomorrow morning then. Byebye.” Sungmin smiled and waved before closing the elevator doors.
Ryeowook smiled as he walked down the hall. He opened the door to be greeted by his mother and father.
“How was your first day, dear?”
“Good. Do you need help making dinner?”
“Oh no, honey, just go to your room and relax. I’ll come get you when dinner’s ready.”
Ryeowook kissed his mother on the cheek before going to his room. He dropped his bad on the floor and flopped onto the bed. All of the day’s events ran through his mind like a slideshow. So much had happened. He was now someone’s baby, got 3/4 new mentors/friends, had a weird strange music composition teacher, and was in the top singing class with 2 of the most hottest but snobbiest guys in school.
Ryeowook’s mind lingered over the thoughts of Yesung and his beautiful voice. His eyes began to droop as he remembered Yesung’s voice. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.
