Thanks to a pre-order at FYE, I got Dream Theater's new album Systematic Chaos in the mail last night. Sadly, no lithograph. I assume it will come sometime later since I know I pre-ordered it early enough for one

excellent review! i've only had time to listen to half of the cd, sadly, as I just downloaded it from itunes this morning...
so far it's better than i feared, since i'm not that crazy about "the dark eternal night" - too ripoffish of better nu-metal bands (if there's really such a thing!), and i'm pretty tired of that sound anyway...
after reading this, i'm looking forward to the rest of the cd! :)
Yeah the album is thankfully more varied than the songs "Constant Motion" and "The Dark Eternal Night" show. I personally like both songs but I can understand that they have some recycled themes going on in them :)
ok, i've gotten through more of the cd, and Prophets of War could've easily been on Muse's last CD - trust me, if you liked this song, run out and pick up "Black Holes and Revelations" now! ;)
Hmmm, interesting. Though it will all depend on the singer of the band. If I can't stand the singer, I'm not going to like the band. That's why I don't like Rush.
>If I ever need to torture someone, this song will be the one I'd play them. Torture me!! :-P I usually like long atmospheric songs, so I guess I will love this song. ;-) I don't know yet though, I don't have the album yet, but I heard some small things of it. And I guess I'm the opposite of the rest of the DT fans, since I really hate the chorus of Constant Motion. But like I said, I also love Octavarium, not many DT that feel the same about that one. ;-)
Send me! Send me! sebassefras@yahoo.com ;-) I do like Falling into Infinity, though I do think it's over commercial. At first I didn't really like the heavier albums, but now I'm a bit happier it's (funny enough) easier for me to listen to heavy albums! XD So yeah, I had to test my new Marshall Valvestate on 'Endless Sacrifice' today. ;-)

I can send the song to you if you want? Though as I said, it tends to drone on. Then again, I'm weird ;)
Yeah I can't stand the Octavarium album. Same goes with Falling Into Infinity. I guess I need to some punch in my music :)
