Well, you might be asking yourself what's up with Heather? Ok, maybe not but in my brain you are ;)
Anyway, I went over to Bremerton this last Saturday. It was the first time I've been to my grandma's house since her death on December 2nd. It was weird to say the least. Though I noticed that telling people she was dead was the hardest part. I get this tightness in my chest when I say it. Admittedly I've never experienced that before. Then again, I've never lost someone that close to me. My dad and I were never that close. Mostly because he abused me but regardless we didn't see eye to eye.
While at my grandma's I sorted through a few boxes, throwing out old paperwork and junk I didn't need. There's no point in hauling it over to Seattle when it's stuff I don't need. Though I counted 30 boxes in my grandma's basement that belong to me. A lot of them will be condensed or gotten rid of. In case you are curious, 12 of those boxes are filled with 100 or so magazines each. Those I can't condense...well, maybe I can get rid of those non-music magazines that I just kept for pictures. There's not many of those so I will probably be taking over at least 11 boxes of magazines back to Seattle. Just think of the thousands of hours scanning pictures :)
Myspace seems to be the place for all my former classmates to find me. I've been contacted by two of them that I used to talk to in the last month. In fact, one just last week. Though I now know how a friend of ours died. She apparently took her life at age 27. It's too bad because she was a really smart girl. Such is life.
I was also contacted by an old IM penpal named Brian. I haven't talked to him since 2001 or so. Ironically he emailed me about the very thing we first met over, Savatage. I met him on the old Savatage mailing list via Yahoo Groups. He wanted to know if I've heard Jon's new solo CD, which I haven't.
It boggles my mind to think of how many bands I've gotten into since 2001. That predates: Iced Earth, Siegens Even, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Symphony X, Tad Morose, Blind Guardian, Star One, Ayreon, Damian Wilson, OSI, After Forever, Landmarq, Threshold, Shadowland, Elegy, Wicked Sensation, Edguy, Hammerfall, Rhapsody, Demons & Wizards, Elfonia, Gary Hughes, Rick Wakeman, Shadow Gallery, Avantasia, Thy Majestie, Virgin Steele, Gamma Ray, Angra, Viper, Virgo, Shaman, Michael Kiske, SupaRed, Place Vendome, Helloween (again), Stream of Passion, Arthemis, Power Quest, Eyes of Shiva, Heaven's Gate, Shockmachine, and Vanden Plas.
Pretty amazing, eh? ;)
