This is based off what I have read from movie reviewers.abigor60April 21 2008, 18:55:00 UTC
The issues raised by this movie are not honestly defended or explored in it. The cases of "discrimination" and harassment presented are heavily edited to create the sense that people were being persecuted for believing or supporting ID arguments when other factors were involved.
Many critics have talk about the biased and dishonest tone of the movie. I have not seen the movie, but the arguments were pretty compelling concerning a lack of intellectual honestly with members of the production team, and the content of the movie itself.
It is fine to discuss how some might discriminate against an unpopular idea, but to hide and misrepresent facts only weakens a argument. I may not agree with his position, but my problem is with his methods.
The problem is not that they want to teach intelligent design, the problem is that they want to teach it as if it were scientific and not religion in disguise. And the rest of the problem is that they want to do it in a state-funded atmosphere. If there were a scientifically sounds, alternative explanation to evolution, I guarantee you it would be taught in schools. Much of our time spent "sciencing" is dedicated to figuring out if we are introducing bias into what we do. If there were something that could stand up to scrutiny, we would include it in our dogma. It is okay to teach intelligent design in schools, but only in a course on modern mythology.
And I agree that it's interesting the religious zealots would turn to a "Moorish" film for exposure.
