My Subconscious Fear of the Internet

It is kind of hard to totally forget my last encounter with deceit on the internet (even phone and email). I think it has brought to the surface my innate fear of trusting anything or anyone on the internet. Which I really dislike, because I want to be able to trust everyone without worrying

You silly person. Signing up on a DATING site means eventual dating in sight. I meet people online on communities: message boards, journals, sites...not dating sites. I would go ahead and assume that he means no harm (because hey, he doesn't exactly know your address or anything), but ENFORCE that it's just friendship. If not, simple as that...stop talking to him. Find new friends online. There are bazillions of people online and I think it's silly to base your encounters off of just a few bad ones. Try joining a message board for a group you're interested in, or better yet, a community here on LJ based on an interest.
