it was a nice effect though ^^'
The way Jin was avoiding the crowd, only focusing on bringing Kame back home, to me it felt like he had gone "crazy" after the accident, and was now trying to heal the wounds of an already dead Kame, completely denying his death xD I guess I'm thinking too much x)
And I actually thought it was like this until you mentioned "the steady rising and falling of Kame's chest" XD

Oh crap. XD Yeah he had gone crazy for a moment there, but it was only because of seeing him hurt like that and knowing it's his own fault. I'm sorry I didn't make clear that Kame was alive. =X Then again, I think the story the way you're describing it would be really interesting. You know, having Jin slowly come to terms with reality. Might be too sad to handle, though. =(
