yesterday I wrote this nice long blog about a lot of nothing. My evil computer killed it. :(

I've got a question.

A couple of days ago I was watching Serenity about 1 in the morning. I was all "So what if I have work the same day at 7 am. I'm hard core like that!" Let me tell you it was pretty bad. Me watching Serenity on the tv. I had to keep ( Read more... )

Just my biased, Mal/Zoe shippy perspective:

When Mal calls to Zoe he touches her she makes a movement. Is it him grabbing her a little ruff or her pulling away from him?

Okay, pretend you're Zoe. Your husband just died. You're about to lead a bunch of civilians (only one of whom you trust at your back with a gun) on a suicide mission against Reavers, while your friend and captain runs off on his own suicide mission that you're not even sure is worth it. Then said Captain is demanding to know your state of mind in front of said civilians, and touching you while he's doing it. NOT a good idea. Zoe doesn't want anyone at all touching her right that moment, and even though it's Mal and even though it normally wouldn't bother her, it was just not a good time for it.

And please try, if you can, to explain what it was in that moment between the two. Those of you who know the fandom know that Mal and Zoe have this deep almost mind linking bond. What I saw in that moment was pretty scary...Yes, Mal and Zoe's bond is scary. It is a soul-deep ( ... )

Well, thank you every much for taking the time to answer my question so very thoroughly. I can see every point you made. I did get the reference to the pilot "Hold" speech. I should really watch that again just to study what's not being said, though I'm pretty sure you've hit everything on the head.

So you're saying that she pulled away? I thought it could be that or Mal just grabbed her in a "snap out of it!" manner. That is a really interesting scene. I could dig into it for days ...

And thank you again! I'm glad I asked the question that got such a well thought out reply.
