The only problem I have with it is that for me, we'd need to have it so that Wash didn't exist. (I again refuse to acknowledge what may have occurred in the movie). Like I could see them getting together if there never had been a Wash.
If I could accept what happened in the movie (ha!), then perhaps Zoe would turn to Wolverine after many years had passed. Perhaps she'd seek a man who was not at all like Wash.

Inara/Jayne and Kaylee/Mal - fic enough that they've each got shipping communities, even!
And appalling though the prospect of Inara/Jayne might be, both it and Kaylee/Mal make more sense to me than Inara/Mal (which makes no sense - unless they both grow up, already).
Peter and River have a lot in common. They could bond over being the irritating swiss army knife characters that the creators of the show are over-invested in.
Wash/Wesley kinda works - it's got about the same dynamic as Wash/Zoe (non-clam/clam). Not as pretty, though...
Wolverine would be all over Zoe, but I'm not so sure she'd be interested back. Post StM, maybe, if she was in a killing mood.

Mal is a fantastic character. Inara is a fantastic character. Together, they are just... trite. A cliche. A "been-there, done-that" romantic convention. It annoys me in an "Oh, please, I've seen this so many times before" way. (I also understand, because this is a conventional romantic relationship, that it is also going to be an incredibly popular one.)
Zoe and Wash are real. Their relationship is gritty, hot, and pure. They are not trite nor a cliche.

Wash & Zoe are the best romantic relationship on Serenity. Maybe even best relationship. :x (yes I think they trumps Simon/River) I'm also intrigued by the Mal/Zoe relationship but I love Wash and Zoe. They made me love the show. And if that's a realistic impression of a marriage then I look forward to it.
Wash and Zoe never bored be. I never rolled my eyes at them like I did Mal/Inara & Kaylee/Simon. They were hot, cute, endearing, funny, sexy, real. I love it when married folk like Wash/Zoe and tell me how real their is (and write awesome married smut). There should more such marriages on TV.
Dean/Eden - just make it a PWP, please. Cos HOTTT!
Peter/River - you've killed me. Just mentioning it has killed me dead. They'd use ten boxes of kleenex a day. I mean, the overflowing crazy would short out the ship and they'd spaced themselves. Wow.
Sylar/Tracy - it's pretty and also hilarious. They can call each other "Million Credit Meat" and play lots of con games and then Sylar can kill him for being an idiot.
Wolverine/Zoe - oh, this would be amazing! This might be soul-mates level stuff. Are you going to write any of it?
