Seeing as Blindsight might very well not be going into a second printing after all (Goddamn it, Tor), there might not *be* a paperback edition. So I just ordered a hardcover copy via Amazon while the getting's still good.
I've noticed a number of authors in recent years leaving that publisher for different ones, hopefully this recent incident could at least serve as a reminder for others to steer clear.
Tor is starting to remind me of Larry's Market in the NW before the chain eventually closed down, but it's not like I think I can say I really have enough information to be confident in my assesment/hypothesis. However, I hope up and coming midlist authors will avoid them (granted, it might be possible for that publisher to finally get its shit together, but it's not like I'm a fucking psychic or anything).
Sheeeeeee-it. He need to skip over to Bantam-Spectra or somethin' - they're doing pretty damn well for Elizabeth Bear near as I can tell. Straight-to-paperback, son, that's the way.
