Insomnia doesn't work well for me. I finally fell asleep sometime after 3am, only to wake up before 6am. Whyyyy? It leaves me feeling like a zombie, only I crave coffee instead of brains

I don't think I'll ever catch up with the crap on my plate either. But... so what... hectic is a lot more fun if you care a lot less and enjoy it one day at a time.
READING! Wow! Your babies make me want to have babies.
I'd sure rather have things hectic than lead a slow an boring life. ;) One day at a time is the key!
And yeah-- Max read a 61-page book last night! It took him half an hour, but he stuck with it. I'm so happy and excited for him... as I told him, there's nothing you can't learn once you can read. :)
Can I ask you a stupid new-parent question? What do you do with the kiddos while you go to the gym? I haven't figured out how on earth I'm going to manage time to work out yet (and god do I need it).
That's not a stupid question!! I found a gym that has free childcare-- up to two hours per day. It's awesome because there is a big picture window right in view of the workout area, so I can peek in on them any time. It's a Lady of America gym, and I think they all have free childcare, just in case you want to check it out! It has definitely given me a few moments of sanity.
I admire your energy to stay busy all the time - with two, nonetheless. Maybe if I knew of more kid-friendly activities around here I might get out more. What else do you have scheduled besides the library? All of my library's programs are at 11am or so on weekdays =(
And I don't know what it is with the insomnia thing - but I have a serious problem sleeping before 2am lately! I find myself writing 3-page long letters to Joanna (the old fashioned way), re-organizing my closet, or reading a book that I don't want to end. I am trying a yoga DVD now, it seems to be helping. I highly recommend it since you seem to have the bug too - "Yoga conditioning for Weight Loss" with Suzanne Deason.
I'm so impressed that Max is not only reading, but passionate about it. Reading to Khai is going to help both of them...most kids wouldn't even be bribed to do that but again you have exceptional kids. I can't wait to start helping Jayden read "The Indian in the Cupboard" among others.
Most of our library's activities are during the week and like you said, around 11am or so. Not great for the working parents! We have one story time on Saturday mornings, I think.
Other things we're doing are Science Week (day camp at the kids' Montessori school) in July, then two weeks of swimming lessons after that. We do playdates when they work out and some days just go to the mall playspaces or parks (with tree cover!) when we just have to get out of the house.
It's a lot easier to keep the house clean when we're not in it much!
I actually used to own that yoga tape and I loaned it out to someone a while back... lately I've been trying to remember things from class to do on my own. I really wish I could just take a yoga class every day-- it's so much better when someone can tell me whether or not I'm doing things correctly!
