So I decided that I cannot be a cna. Being around death and seeing people who are unable to do anything for themselves absolutely breaks my heart. I guess that is good motivation to move up in the field though ( Read more... )

If its any consolation, I think you got it all wrong. Any good CNA has to have an emotional connection with their patients, otherwise its just passive care, which doesnt do anyone any good. For instance, all the cna's at my work are shit because they dont give a damn about the patients. Sure, they probably go home without a worry in their hearts about who they were in contact with, but i think in order to be a good cna, nurse, ANYTHING in the health industry, you need to care about who you work for.

So, you'd probably be one of the better CNA's. Give it more thought?

Thank you Roxy. I just feel like I care too much about these people and it breaks my heart to know that nothing can be done to help them. We have a lady who is deaf, blind, has severe osteoarthritis and a very severe panic/anxiety disorder. They cant get her meds right to calm her down so she just cries and cries and it makes me cry.

But it means a lot that you say that.
