“River, Zoe’s locked an’ loaded and threatenin’ to start shootin’ if we don’t get goin’ into town ‘like now’!” Kaylee called through her door.  “She wants me to make sure we ain’t gonna be late gettin’ her to the flickers.  Can I come in?”

“Certainly,” River answered, trying to do up the back of her dress without catching her hair in the zipper.  “I ( Read more... )

Thanks, honey! I love it very much, too.

All you need to do is send a message to steplianna and she'll send you the software to program your JayneClone to provide tutorials on his favorite sports! :D

Thank you very much! Real life got in the way a little, but we're back and still going strong.

Next chapter: River goes with Inara to the City - guess who's driving? (Hee!!!)

God I LOVE you and this story. It's so wonderful. I especially loved this line:

She sank down onto one of the hard plastic seats and turned her attention to her rented shoes. They were possibly the most hideous items of apparel that she’d ever seen - red on the outside of the foot, blue on the instep, silver in the middle, and done up with lengths of grubby paste-colored cotton that would have sent fastidious Grandmother Serra into a dead faint over the likelihood of infection.

Isn't that the reaction everyone over time has had when dealing with the god awful bowling shoes the alleys provide! (I finally bought a pair of my own and while they aren't gross like the standard issues, they look like orthopedic "old lady" sneakers.

Anyways, this story ROCKS my world. You are just too sweet....(I'm pinching your cheek right now....) :)Ali

Thank you so much!

I had the exact same reaction when I put on my first pair of shoes in the Curundu bowling alley in the Panama Canal Zone. They were icky and hideous and gross!

Someday I will have my own shoes and bowling ball - I totally suck at the sport, but that doesn't take away from the fun of it!

I'm so glad you like it! *bearing the cheek-pinching as gracefully as possible...* :D

Oh, God, yes. She's not very good at it, the shoes are waaay ugly and there's so many other teenagers around that it's hard for her to filter them out, what with the constant hormone spikes!

I'm going to try and update every Tuesday and Friday - I realize there's people invested in this story so I'd best satisfy them before they invade my journals and write evil things about me and camels. :D

Oh no--it's over already? How long 'til the next piece, huh? Please?

I'm still loving this, especially the retro, early-60's feel of it. ESPECIALLY the pink bowling shirt and scarf around the ponytail! And Jayne's actually being nice! But... can he really improve her bowling? :-)

I'll definitely be tuning in to find out.

Yes, sadly the word limit on LJ makes me have to write only the most important stuff - waaah!

Jayne's a nice guy deep down. But don't tell him that - he's "got a rep to protect"!

More to come!
