I went to the doctor to get a lump I found looked at. Her opinion was that it's too smooth, free-floating (as in not attached to any tissue) and painless to be something to be worried about. (Of course, after working out the muscles it's nearby at work and it getting poked, prodded, and poked some more at the exam, now it's all sore.) She wants to give it a few hormonal cycles to see if that does anything and then reevaluate from there. But since we didn't do a biopsy or anything, "probably" not cancer.
I think my parents are going to talk to their doctors, since my mom had the same thing a few years ago, and they might want to do some testing sooner than later. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I can definitely see how that would be quite unnerving or kind of frustrating (the just waiting part), to say the least. Hopefully, it will turn out to be nothing serious, though!
