Dude! I thought something in my study smelt kind of bad, but I half wondered if it was my trainers that I kicked off in the corner after the five mile run I did at the weekend so I kind of ignored it until now

I hear ya. I have thirteen of the little beasts myself (They just accumulated. They did, honestly!) and it's never pleasant to come home and find 'presents' waiting for you. On the porch. In the garage. Little live lizards scurrying under the furniture, traumatized birds knocking themselves out on the windows...
I'd tell you all of their stories, but by the end even I would be bored stiff. So, long story short, I run a sort of unofficial cat rescue, and those that are too ugly, too sick, too mean, too timid, or just plain AWOL get to stay with me. Frankly, out of the hundreds of cats and kittens I've cared for and given away, it's astonishing that I only have thirteen.
Gotta love 'em all.

Lol, well those trainers are about 5 years old, but are soooo comfortable that I can't bear to throw them out - even though they do smell somewhat less than pleasant.
And the mouse wasn't in any advanced state of decay, it was quite fresh really, so only just starting to niff - and as it was so tenderly placed under my desk, probably the beast intended that I eat it...

*shocked face*
Oh man, and I thought that just one little monster was bad enough to deal with.
Oh yes, the presents... *chuckles* They do bring in some really special things for their beloved humans don't they?
I fondly recall the time I found six mouseheads on my doorstep, not to mention the seagull or the bird-in-a-rosebush delivered to me in bed one night.
Bless 'em eh?
