I am now dead convinced
everyone in this comm is white*
Why?
marionros/smallpotato: "'s Excuse me? Who says that teen Severus calls all Muggle-borns but Lily 'Mudblood'?
I read Lily's claim to be 'don't You People (aka 'all Slytherins') call my people 'mudbloods'", because Teen Lily sounds pretty much brainwashed into the Gryffindor mindset at

it the case where people just accept that marionros is completely batshit, so saying anything is pointless, maybe?
Yes. Most comments I see don't get a response from me whether I agree or not. I used to always respond to posts that I thought displayed prejudice, but now I get half way through a reply then I say, "oh. fuck it."

I have two replies to this
1. Yes, it's possible. Especially so because the prejudice in the books is against fictional people. Just because JKR wants it to reflect real life racism doesn't mean every POC is gonna see it that way. I see the parallels to racism, but I don't think about that when I read the books.
2. Who cares? Most of the time when I'm in a debate about racism/sexism/whatever, I'm arguing against a person who is affected by it. Just because there are people of color who don't mind or don't notice racism doesn't mean your opinions or experiences are invalid.

I was referring to a POC from Snapedom being okay with comparing house rivalry to racism, which is most definitely not in the books. And I haven't run into a POC (specifically those who are minorities in their countries) agree with this yet.

I said that in light of calling everyone on Snapedom white, which I'm 99.9% sure is all the current active members. Particularly the people who replied to the thread I linked.

I think that proves even more how fucked up this comm is.

"Those willing to call it out will not survive at Snapedom long, though. They would be constantly kicking up wankstorms and likely tire of bashing their head against the rocks of batshit insanity and fail. I know I tired of it on Snapedom, that's for sure."
*Sigh* That is the case. I do agree they are in a privilege bubble. What upsets me most is that when racist/misogynist/etc. screeds are preached like this, it makes these spaces really unsafe for a lot of people.
"That reminds me, I need to pick a new featured topic for Snape Sanity. I'm thinking something somewhat light. Like Snape's hygiene or lack thereof."I was gonna ask you about this. In light of our discussion about beard/no beard Snape, we should have a poll. I can write ( ... )

Yeah. :(
I was gonna ask you about this. In light of our discussion about beard/no beard Snape, we should have a poll. I can write the post up sometime in the next day or two.
Cool, that sounds awesome! :D

I found myself thinking about Rowling's work while I was watching it. Hogarth held up this unflincing mirror to his society and it reverbates to this day. In many ways I think Rowling also holds up a mirror. She never condemns, it is up to the reader to see the reflection and make up their own minds about what is reflected. I think that might be a part of Snapefen's problem. They cannot bring themselves to admit that the reflection demands a judgement, they would rather blame her for not giving them what they consider a pretty picture. Am I making sense?
