My inspiration for that was actually a piece of Firefly, where Mal asks what's wrong with a person, and Zoe very quickly responds "She shot you." It was the tempo and the uh, there's a damn good reason mentality.

I liked writing him as the sort of character that you could simultaneously feel sorry for and not sorry for. This was fun :).
