hon, it's nto a cure for a personality,it's helping someone who isn't able to communicate, learn to be able to communicate, thus lowering their frustration at not being able to get their point across.

Exactly. Because it's a neurological thing, while some can be 'cured', this is something that can't. And to be honest, I wouldn't change my daughter for the world, it gives her such a unique view on life, and she's *happy*. But what she, and kids who've got it worse, go through in trying to *communicate* is really difficult. She's getting better, she's five now, but she's got the communication skills of a not quite three year old. There are simple concepts she just can't wrap her brain around (but then a lot of them are the same ones I've had trouble with). What this, the society and the video and things, is for, is to raise awareness of just what autism is, so that people who don't have it can learn to be patient and understanding of what these kids (and adults) go through - while trying to raise money to make it so that kids can get the help they get, early enough that it'll make a difference. So that they can communicate, be it by sign or speech, what it is that's making them angry, or frustrated, or happy. :)
