spellfire and brimstone: CoS

i doubt these will be hugely well accepted or interesting to much of anyone, but it's something i've been wanting to do for a while.
i'm not a great artist of any sort, but my draw to graphics in general is colour and light. and, specifically, the way light intensifies colour or colour gives the illusion of more intense light.
i went wading through screencaps of all the HP films this week and pulled out all the flashpowder special effects and flashy CG spellwork. after painting, saturating, desaturating, dodging, burning, smudgin, sharpening, blurring, and making free with the lens flare effect, this is the result.
this is more of a learning experience for me than a genuine icon set (which will be followed by set from PoA and GoF and, maybe someday, OotP... unfortunately, i haven't found any SS caps that show any fancy wandwork at all), but i thought i'd post and offer them. as an experiment with colour and light and dimension, some of them are fairly abstract. i.e., as fandom icons, many of them fail, as it's damn hard to figure out exactly what's going on and with whom it's going on.
i would include two of the snape icons i posted yesterday into this set, but, as i just posted them yesterday, i don't think that's necessary.
with that caveat, i offer the following icons.
