Haha I don't blame you for sticking it on the "to read" list - it's so bloody long! (I know it isn't, really ... but writing it felt like I was writing War & Peace!)

I hope you like it when you get to it!

I just finished this, and . . . god. Just a warning that my response may not be the most eloquent, because I've not come down from my flailing yet.

Here we go . . .

I love the way you made the prompt come to life. Choosing to explore Draco's grief in such a raw way, to know that it was this and not his past actions that caused him to fall to pieces -- so well done.

My favorite part, besides the slow burn (god, I love a slow burn), that made me fall completely in love with this story, was this:

Draco drew his wand and performed a smooth swishing motion. “Orchideous!” A bunch of daffodils shot from the end of his wand. They were the lightest shade of yellow Harry had ever seen, so pale they were almost translucent. Given Draco’s intoxicated state, Harry was surprised he could cast anything at all ( ... )

Oh, what a lovely comment! Thank you ever so much!

I'm so glad that you appreciated the way it was Draco's grief which set the ball rolling. I always imagine him to be very close to his mother, so it made sense for him to suffer greatly as a result of losing her.

And the flowers scene was one of my favourites! I wanted to show that even when they're getting on with their lives, the hole their mothers have left behind is always very much there. And yes, it seemed important to show Harry pulling Draco out of the depths of darkness through empathy. He's just a little ray of sunshine!

And I'm delighted you liked the sex! I kept the poor readers waiting long enough for it!

Thank you so much <3
