but then of course, necessity IS the mother of invention

So here's a strange thing. I used to be only an occasional fan of techno/dance music -- anything with a heavy beat, synthesized-to-death vocals, etc. Because I love singing and it's hard if not impossible to sing with most of that type of music. But over the past week I have tripled the play counts of every bit of VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, ( Read more... )

Only Techo I really know is Daft Punk. They are teh good.

Suggestion to try is looking up Dragonforce. Metalish band singing about dragonish stuff a friend rec'd me. I think they match the "music with a beat" criteria pretty well. Haven't listened to all their songs that I've gotten but so far, yeah, they fit.

Hee, Angsty certainly knows how to pimp that stuff - my own collection of European industrial is largely the result of her efforts XD

Given what she managed to infect me with, you might want to try some Wolfsheim (Find You Gone, Real, Leave No Deed Undone among others), Cruxshadows (Return, Winterborn, Walk Away) and, of course, Rammstein, if you haven't already. And I don't know what you'd make of Nightwish (Wishmaster, Nightquest) but that gets the singing in there too! Let me know if you need samples of any (I suspect Angsty might have beat me to some XD)

Recommendations? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, yeah I got a few.

Check out www.staticbeats.com -- one of my favorite beat-oriented electronic music web-stations for several years now. Okay for foreground listening, but GREAT for background listening.

I'll have more next time we talk/chat.

What kind of cookie? ;)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for... actually it's probably not... it has a constant beat, but it's a laidback constant beat. They still rock though.

They're called "Dispatch". Maybe you've heard of them. I don't know if they're popular, or were popular, who knows, not me. I like all the songs I've heard so far, but my favorites would be:

The General
Open Up
Bang Bang
Flying Horses

A lot of their songs are political, (The General, and Open Up) and all of them are full of symbolism. Great lyrics.
If you have a chance, you should download them. Want me to upload them to that site where I got yours?
