This was extraordinary. This was beautiful. And this from someone who's been a quiet fan of both Baldwin and Saladin--and never seen the movie.

Wow. Thank you so much. I have to admit a lack of interest in history before now -- a spot of intrigue here and there, like when I became obsessed with T.E. Lawrence -- but this movie, though not really life-changing in and of itself, has finally opened the floodgates of historical interest for me. So getting praise from someone unfamiliar with the movie is really quite cool. ^_^.

Lots and lots of icon love, by the way. Man, I haven't seen any B5 in so long... I miss it.

I just want to say--

I liked this story a lot. You're a real good writer! I was impressed with your style, etc., and I like how you give us a glimpse of what may have been going on inside Saladin's mind during various scenes in the movie.

it’d be nice for someone to point out that yes, he’s deformed and dying, but that doesn’t make him any less of a decent human being

Yes, and thank you, and everything that implies.

This fic is breathtaking. Baldwin and Saladin were just about the only things I liked in the film, and you have captured them perfectly--their dignity, their power, and the respect they have for one another. I'm off to find more fic, but I doubt I will find anything to compare to this (although recs are appreciated). Thank you for writing this!
