Yep. Couldn't agree more. I'm not as knowledgeable on the science aspects as you, but even I could spot some of those issues. And I just didn't get why they cast Guy Pearce - I thought they were going to have him miraculously made younger at some point, hence the make up, but nope. Just a good looking guy made up to look old.

Disappointing.

Apparently they show young Weyland in some of the extras. Still, though, could they not have CGIed an older actor to look young instead of having a theatrical release with someone made up unconvincingly to be old? I knew from early on Vickers would turn out to be his daughter, but she looked far too young to be so given how old he looked. He was about as convincing as the ancient, withered dwarf Doctor in Last of the Time Lords.

I must admit that I don't like actors made to look young with CGI - it really didn't work for me in the X Men. But if the younger scenes were so unnecessary that they ended up on the cutting room floor, that would make so much more sense.

I didn't have an issue with Vickers being his daughter (which almost went without saying) - my dad fathered my sister in his mid 60s so by the time she's Vickers' age, he'll be looking like Weyland does. I just found the whole thing really distracting. I happen to think that Guy Pearce is a really attractive man, so knowing that he was hiding under all that just broke the mood for me.

I had a massive geek-out with some friends around tons of points in the film. In the end I enjoyed it because it was Sci--fi, but it was only 'ok', 5 out of 10, rather than good.

Personally I think the space squid guzzled a 'keg of plasma/blood' (or 20) which someone let around the medlab...
