You wouldn't happen to be on fire, would you?

Tonight, at about 1:30am, the Deluxe Diner (responsible for many meals of mine) caught fire. I was there. I hope that it has sufficient fire insurance to cover the loss and let them rebuild. But it is in a shaky enough financial condition that, even with that, it may not open again.

Hope for the best...

Sounds like you will need another standby choice. Hopefully everyone got out OK.

I'll have to do some research - it won't likely be someplace close, though, I'm afraid. And everyone got out without harm - there was an ambulance on the scene, but it wasn't needed.

From what I saw (yes, I was in there), there was fire damage in the kitchen and on the roof (which was what got the fire department there), as well as smoke and water damage throughout.

My gut says that it's not likely to reopen, but I could easily be wrong.

OMG! Was anyone hurt? Wow... funny that happened on what would have been my 6-year anniversary there. Not saying I'm responsible.

No one hurt - Jose hustled everyone out very quickly.

I've heard that the place will eventually reopen, though that's ultimately the owner's decision and there's also the question of how long it will take to repair it.

Despite the fact that I was going to pick somewhere else to do my restaurant review, kitchen inspection, or anything, I'm still going to miss it. We've been spending what, danged near 5 or 6 years visiting the place? At least we can visit the "lovely and talented" Michelle elsewhere.
