I am First Nations. Aborginial. Indian. Native Canadian. Indigenous. I am all of these, but I prefer to use First Nations. Quick background, I was adopted at 2 months. It sounds like you've traveled a difficult road, but you're also doing well now. This is a very good thing.

Sometimes, it's hard to view diversity as a gift. I know I struggle with this from time to time.

Very great words that you got from the psychiatrist. You are a part of wonderful groups of people and they all have so much from all of them. You have a lot of minorities rolled up into one person. Stay proud of all of them, I say!

History has been unkind to First Nations people and their descendants. Perhaps with your desire to know yourself through the different worlds that made you, others may also begin to deal with the systemic racism inherent in North America. I try to catch what I hear and right what I see, as a teacher. It's great to have a reminder. Thanks for making me think!
