My impression was that they're at two-guys-and-benchtop-experiment stage, if that. Who knows if the idea will scale up or even work at the level they envision. The idea of 'biomimicry' is very appealing to me, though, so I hope they're able to succeed with this.
I don't think I've heard a scientist use double-speak that well before though.
I'm not certain I blame him. I recall a Heinlein story of two people who invent a solar panel that's ~90+% efficient. And end up having to run for their lives in an attempt to get the information out before the government and industry kill them.
We get back to not being able to even envision a world with effectively 'free' energy.

That's very exciting, although the article is awfully guarded about how far along they are in the process.
Let's just hope the megacorps don't buy the patent and sit on it for the next twenty years. :P
