Well, good news is a few million years and a couple of ice ages and maybe an asteroid strike after we are finished off as a species there will be an earth populated by all kinds of animals which have evolved from cockroaches and that waterbear thing and bread mold or something. It'll all sort out in the end...

It's a heart-breaking series of articles. Good on the LA Times for researching and writing them, because in the face of W's ignorance and incompetence we need to do *something*... But then again, the extent of what we have done already do destroy this place we live is heartbreaking without someone writing about it... ugh.

In the end, though, bodhifox is right. The planet will sort itself out in the end. We may just get ourselves selected right out of that sorting.
