Quoted out because it made me laugh:

The second law of thermodynamics essentially says that disorder increases.
In the long term, this means that the universe will inevitably fall apart.
In the short term, it means that you cannot unstir your coffee.

Well, didn't get to it in time, but that's OK, I think I got the concept (look, Ma, the astrophysica BA ain't totally usueless!).

:)

I smile at this until I remember the call-in science program on WAMC where this guy called into to ask/incite argument about the theory of evolution "contradicting" the second law of thermodynamics. And the bio prof getting annoyed instead of straightforwardly saying "that 'contradiction' rests on a misunderstanding of what evolution is and does." Oh well.
