Beautiful New Russian Harry Potter Covers

Apr 29, 2008 09:20

These just came out yesterday and I think they're so beautiful! These are for the "adult" book covers, I guess copying the British idea.

The motifs would make great icons as well. The snake is for Order of the Phoenix and the spilled Goblet is from Half-Blood Prince.

Wow, they are gorgeous! And each one is so appropriate to the book, without giving anything away! I think the one for HBP is my favorite...

Me too - the detail on the goblet is just beautiful, and that's obviously a reference to Spinner's End, which is another reason to like it! :)

There are two pivotal scenes in which red wine is drunk, actually - there is also the scene where Harry gets Slughorn drunk and talks him into providing the true Horcrux memory. (Actually a parallel I had not noticed before - Snape sure seems to be trying to make the ladies tipsy in Spinner's End, as well...) But what I like best is that the goblet on the cover is knocked over and the "blood-red" wine has spilled - and of course, there is a notable violent death at the end of the book.

I forgot about Slughorn and the wine - I was just thinking of Narcissa spilling wine because her hands were shaking.

It does indeed remind a person of blood - very spooky.

Great covers. The one with the snake is kind of creepy if I look at it long enough.
