Quotes of the Week: Pottermore Beta Testing

There was a surprising press release from Pottermore last week. It seems they are postponing the sale of ebooks due to the "unexpected" numbers of Beta Testers who signed up. It seems JKR invited us in herself, but they never thought we would actually show up!

eck.
I see this article as another way they can promote their site. I've not tried to get into Pottermore yet and I don't regret it.

There has never been any excuse for them to not expect massive influx. I don't see much of what people are complaining about, faulty games, bugs, kinks etc as a "bandwidth" problem. Just poor PR, really.

After they let the last of the Beta Testers into the site, suddenly it was down much of the time with a message to "Come Back Later." So that's where the bandwidth problem comes into play, and it's baffling that they wouldn't build space into the website for people who had signed up back in the summer.

Yes - it seems this has just been badly planned all round. How, after the books developed such a huge fandom, could they not expect an influx of fans to Pottermore? I honestly think the poor management is causing some ill will.

BTW, thanks for the video! I always loved that one. )
