Well, that was emotional. Alan Rickman had me in actual tears in the cinema. What a performance. Good work team.

love even after death...mmmm...
I sometimes wonder what JKR had in mind when creating her loveless archvillan:
Vol-de-mort
of
Vol-d'amor
flight from death or flight from love.
in English it would sound the same.

I think so - I think someone asked her that once. :)

Here it is via Accio Quote - she uses the French pronunciation

Orange County Register 1999

"Is it Voldemort?" "Or Voldemor?" someone asked about Harry's evil nemesis.
"I say 'Voldemor' but I'm the only one," Rowling, who's from Edinburgh, said with a slight Scottish burr.

More from Wikipedia:

According to the author, Voldemort's name is an invented word.[8] Some literary analysts have considered possible meanings in the name: Philip Nel states that Voldemort is derived from the French for "flight of death,"[9] and in a 2002 paper, Nilsen and Nilsen suggest that readers get a "creepy feeling" from the name Voldemort, because of the French word "mort" ("death") within it and that word's association with cognate English words derived from the Latin mors.[10]

"In real life, Fiennes and Potter's other veteran stars such as Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, and Alan Rickman were far from frightening.

"Michael would tell filthy jokes. Alan would talk about scrambled eggs. It's what people do," said Lewis."

*LOL*

I'm not ready for this. I've been following Alan's career for a good 12 years now, and he's given spectacular such performances in every film he's been in, and several have made me cry, but I don't think anything will be quite like this movie. I suppose Snape being my favourite character since I began reading the series, and having Alan playing him, kind of makes it a "speacial case" for me, but I only hope everyone else can finally see how great he is, and from what I can tell that is happening. I'm so happy for him.

Yes, I hope this is fame that goes beyond Die Hard and other villainous roles. There are famous stars in Hollywood who would love to be in his shoes right now with a character like this.

OMG - I can't believe I'm going to see this tomorrow night!!!
