Speaking of copyrighting words, Charlie Sheen is trying to obtain copyright on words like 'winning' and 'tiger blood'. What an idiot. I hope he loses.

It can be done though. Pat Riley, while the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, copyrighted the word 'three-peat'; meaning a basketball team had won the championship three times in a row. Please don't ask me how that works out in real life . . .

This is probably the basis for Charlie's actions.

I saw the story about Charlie Sheen, but I just couldn't bring myself to include him! He makes my skin crawl . . . *shudder*

Me too but I wish people would stop trying to own words. Free speech!

Yes!!! Language belongs to everyone!

But the logical outcome of all these word trademarks is that someday the dictionary people will have to pay for the privilege of defining a common word. Heck, that's where JKR was going when she sued the Lexicon and then came to court with her long lists of words!

I should have mentioned that Coach Riley made up the word 'three-peat', which would give him ownership of the word, IMO (for the little that that's worth)! Charlie sure as hell can't make THAT claim!!

We already knew he was crazy, didn't we? Poor Martin.
