That Toyota comment is hysterical!

I liked that one too. Especially since I have a friend that refuses to buy from the Big Three because she says all they build is lemons. I have since told her that Toyota can build lemons just as well because she has been a loyal Toyota customer and her car is on the recall list.

It's really a problem for me right now because we leased my daughter a Toyota Corolla for three years to use at Law School. We wanted to lease an American-made car, but none of them had deals we could afford, and most of them didn't have a good deal for purchasing outright after three years. My husband is "Mr. Consumer Reports" too, and he looked up all the statistics last fall about Toyotas versus other cars and thought we had made a good decision. We had never leased or bought a new car before. So he was devastated to hear this news about Toyota because the last thing we wanted was a death-trap for our daughter!

So duh - we feel pretty stupid now, but I guess that's the case with millions of other people. However, I have to say that my daughter hasn't had a single problem with her car yet, and she had driven it a couple of thousand miles before all this mess hit the fan.

Sorry to hear about that. I had a laugh at my friend because when the automakers were facing bankruptcy last spring, she said they deserved it because the workers were lazy, overpaid and build crappy cars. Knowing who my husband works for, it was nice to see her eating humble pie.
