Lets give him something to smile about. RADA (the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) has set up a page for us to give him a birthday present he would truly appreciate: a donation to RADA to help students who cannot afford the tuition. Alan himself was once in this position and were it not for the kindness of strangers, might not be where he is today. Alan is also now the joint Vice Chairman of RADA. So would be the perfect birthday present!

One of my favorite Alan Rickman roles is the scheming Obadiah Slope in 'The Barchester Chronicles.' It's from 1982, and shows just how good an actor he has been right along...also with the wonderful Geraldine McEwan and Donald Pleasence.

Best line, very Snape-ish: "May you both...live...forever."
