Jul 15, 2009 05:38

Hey all ~ So sorry to be here two hours late. We got home just after three A.M. and I was ready to get online and chat, but our cable connection wasn’t working because Comcast was doing maintenance just in the area of my small town, tonight of all nights! So I tried to make good use of the time and spent about an hour typing up my first impressions ( Read more... )

You won't believe this, but I talked my husband into going back with me to see it again at 10:45 this morning. We are about to leave!!!

And I can't wait - that's how good this movie is. I hope you get to see it soon! :)

I agree Rickman was amazing. In the Tower scene, for example. He gets one line, it's not even real words, but the strain in his voice...! And I liked that they gave him more scenes ( ... )

I forgot to mention the Felix! We talked about that after the movie - my youngest thought Dan was acting "woodenly" by which he meant that he had the same foolish grin on his face the whole time, but my daughter said she was happy to see him having fun with that scene. I loved it, myself. It was a nice

Great analysis of Snape - I agree about Katie Bell, it might have been strange if Snape was going around saving everyone, and surely in Prince's Tale they will show how Snape saved Albus from the horcrux ring.

I saw it last night too.

I liked it but I really wish they would have put Rickman in it a bit more. I would have liked to have seen DADA class. I missed that. Rickman was so very serious in this movie and your right he stole the scenes for sure.

I would have also liked a bit more forehshadowing of Snape and Lily's friendship.

I really loved the sectumsempra scene and the look Snape gives Harry. Great scene.

I also enjoyed the quidditch scenes which surprised me. All the Ron/Hermione/Lavender scenes I also thought were funny. The girl who played Lavender really did a good job at making her annoying.

And the Tom Riddle scenes were just wow! I mean the scene with Tom Riddle and Slughorn was vey creepy and so well acted.

The tower scene felt slightly rushed as did the ending in general. Overall I enjoyed it thoigh and I am going to be seeing it again when I take Austin.

Oh, me too about DADA! There's only one or two scenes of that in the book, so they could have put in Snape's speech about evil being a many-headed monster. Maybe it got cut and they will put it back on the DVD. We can hope.

I missed the Quidditch last night when I was getting a refill on popcorn, so I was amazed at how much I enjoyed those today. So well-done. And I loved seeing the Slytherin Quidditch Team flying along in their green robes - great scene.

I just got back and I think it is better on my second viewing. Alan Rickman is so amazing.

You know what I loved was the tower scene where he has to kill Dumbledore. You can see the struggle on Rickman's face when he did it. I think it is great foreshadowing and a hint to people who have only watched the movies.

I went to a movie plex that ran it on 14 screens and all were sold out. It was a sea of people, many dressed up. There is another theater close by that ran it on 22 screens and all were sold out. So in my suburban area within a couple mile radius it ran on 36 screens at midnight and sold every seat, that is a massive turnout ( ... )

By the time we saw the movie again and then had lunch, I needed more sleep, so I crashed when we came home. But I was in awe after seeing again because I enjoyed it more, if that's possible! I can't say it's my favorite movie of all time, because I have a long list of those, but I could easily sit down and watch it again and never be bored ( ... )

Wow, what a turnout for the midnight showing. I'm starting to believe that some of the estimates of a $1 billion gross might turn out to be true.

I think the box office for this movie is going to be enormous. Here I am in a red state in the Bible belt, and yet I keep hearing incredible stories of sold-out theaters. People must be coming in from the countryside of North Georgia, too, because we are right on the border.

There were 5 sold-out large theaters where we were last night, and at 10:45 this morning at the same place, it was only slightly less crowded. Then we ran into two of my daughter's friends who went to see it last night to the north of Chattanooga where there was a 14-theater multiplex. All fourteen were playing HBP, and all fourteen were sold-out an hour before midnight. I've never heard of anything that big at the movies in all my life. Imagine how this is selling-out in the major cities if this is repeated across the country!
