Pushing Daisies is canceled and I hate everyone.

Have you ever had one of those days when you're sitting down to send out 108 letters when all of a sudden, you think, "Aw shit, Pushing Daisies is canceled," and your whole day devolves into a swirling vortex of rage and despair? No? Just me?

It hit me this morning, as I remember my strangely vivid Pushing Daisies dream, which involved Ned and ( Read more... )

Yeah, I've been pretty pissed at the world over this for the past two weeks as well. I read somewhere that they might turn it into a comic book series, but I don't remember where I read that, so it may not have been a reputable source. Still, I hope they do it. It won't do it as much justice as the TV series, but at least it would be a way to keep the story going. Besides, if done well, comic books are still a respectable medium.

I'm not so keen on a Pushing Daisies comic book. I heard that, too, I think Bryan Fuller had mentioned that. Honestly, a lot of the wonder in PD had to do with the beautiful sets and cinematography, which will be noticeably absent from any comics.

I do know that TV-turned-Comics can work, I am buying loads of BtVS and Angel ones, after all. But it just won't be the same.

True, but depending on the art style they use, and if they have good artists, they could potentially make much more grandiose settings without having to worry about the low budget. I agree, it wouldn't be the same, but turning into a comic series could be a real shot in the arm for the series, as it's one of the few TV series out there that I believe could take full advantage of the creative art you can put into the medium and still come out as amazing as the TV series. Plus, with the vast number of indie publications out there these days, its a lot easier to keep a series going with a niche audience in comics than on TV.

That being said, though, that still doesn't excuse ABC for cancelling the series. I suspect one of their major reasons for cancelling it is because the show is owned by Warner Bros., so ABC doesn't get residuals for DVDs or anything.
