Man, I teared up at Sam shakes his head. "You -it was different. Different this time. You don't usually let me save him... How long do I get?" He sounds grateful, pathetically hopeful, like a beaten dog who's been given a biscuit but expects to get kicked again at any second. ... and I then didn't stop sniffling till the end.

I love this glimpse of how they got there, or at least how the started to get there.
I also really love the parallels with canon. Can't help it.

Oh, sweetie, this was wonderful! I love all the glimpses of how they got from there to here. The only thing wrong with this story was that it ended. But, that's how I feel about each and every Fusion 'verse story you've ever written. Each one is such a treasure to savor I never want them to end. :)
