I have to drop a BB. I just found out that there is a strong possibility that I will have to move before my lease expires August 31st ( Read more... )

writing projects, ratherastory can be reasonable sometimes, ratherastory explains it all

Aw, sweetie, when things converge all of a sudden something has to give. Save your Leverage bb for another time and try not to get too stressed out about stuff. Good luck with the house/apartment hunting!

Yeah, I'll probably write the story when I have spare time and not stress about the length. I can use it more as a character study and that way I avoid all the extra problems I was having trying to come up with a plot. ;)

Not the end of the world. Sometimes RL throws you curveballs.

S'ok. *pets* You know all the big fic comms assume a ten percent author loss, as meatworld obligations/writers block/fandom politics take over.

Good luck on apartment hunting. I really hate moving, so you have my utmost sympathies.

Thanks. I'm disappointed, but it's not like I'm actively letting anyone down. I am dropping out before any artists have the chance to be disappointed.

I will still write the story, just not under a BB deadline, and it might end up shorter as a result.

I think you did the right thing. As soon as you saw a conflict, you stepped up and let the mods know. It bites, but you've got that at least.

On a happier note, Vancouver is lovely in August.

Yeah, I'm kind of bummed, but c'est la vie. I'm looking forward to VanCon, though!

It feels like crap when you have to admit you just cannot meet a fic deadline.
It has happened to me precisely once and I get how much it sucks.

It really bites that you'll have to move right in the middle of this all :(

It's happened to me more than a few times by now, though never on a challenge when I was writing for someone else. I don't feel as bad dropping out of a Big Bang way before deadline, because no one is really counting on me to produce a story for them.

A BB is different not really gonna wreck anyones day if you bow out.
I have stayed up all night to finish a challenge-fic that was being stubborn. I would rather miss sleep than disappoint someone who is waiting on a fic.

Still it isn't very happy making to drop a BB.

It's really not happy-making, no, and I hear you on staying up to finish challenge-fic, though. I hate disappointing people who are waiting on me.
