What a humungous amount of work you have pored into this! It was as vividly colorful as the movie (and that is saying a lot), but better in ways that you yourself described in the author notes. (And I loved discovering that you're a CJ Cherryh fan, too!)
Anyway -- you did an amazing job here. The dialogue in particular was effectively very reminiscent of the film - I loved it! And I'm really glad you stuck to the original secondary characters and didn't try to CWRPS them!
Welcome to the world of J2AU! Not to detract from your SPN gen at all, but I'd be happy to see action/adventure RPS from you, any time!
Thank you so much! I was really worried about how some of it would come off, so I'm glad it worked. I am totally a CJ Cherryh fan, she is awesome. I kept thinking of her "Foreigner" series when I was writing this and wishing I could be even a quarter as fantastic as she is.
I am a little burnt out on writing J2/RPS right now. I found it SO much harder to write than SPN, I can't even tell you. It's mostly because it was like writing original fiction with characters who weren't quite all mine, either, so I kept second-guessing myself. What a nightmare. I may try shorter stuff in the future, though. :)
This was well worth the wait! I'm glad you decided to write this. And now you can relax! And it's awesome to have a story without all the CW RPS people for once. That was interesting.
I'm glad Jensen decided to stay with Jared. And now you can relax! It's amazing that you wrote over 96,000 words for this!
I loved this so much, and I'm so happy you wrote the fic.
I'm so glad you found it worth it! I know I've been going on forever about this story. ;)
It didn't even occur to me to include/use the other CW people until it was too late to do anything about it, and in the end I think the story was the better for it. I can't imagine the amount of extra hair-pulling I would have had to do in order to incorporate the other CW actors in this. (Chad as Tsu'tey? Mike as Quaritch? IDEK. /o\)
And it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Jensen would stay with Jared. This was first and foremost a love story. :)
I started this less than two hours ago and have not been able to stop reading for a second. This is so amazingly beautiful that I'm literally crying as I write this. This is a tour de force of epic proportions and I am so incredibly proud of you for sticking with it and pulling this together. I haven't seen the movie and now I'm never going to because it couldn't possibly be half as good as this.
I am SO pleased you liked it! You're one of my cornerstones for what I consider good J2 fic, so you can't imagine how much it means to me to hear it from you. :)
What an accomplishment! It's epic, truly epic, as much as the movie. Writing on that scale is such a task. It's more than writing something long. The scope of your vision, how you laid J2 over the film and made the changes so that it was a story you could get behind - so great.
Thank you so much! It really was a lot of work, trying to get it all to hang together in a way that made sense to me, so I'm really happy that you liked it. :)
I read this really quickly and then decided I needed to see the film because I was having trouble picturing the tails...have just watched it and I'm glad I did as it was so pretty! But your fic is a much better story and I am looking forward to reading it again this weekend. Your Jared is a MUCH more interesting character than Thingie-in-the film and the love story is a lot more believable and far less sickly. I also really liked your Jensen/Grace relationship. Thanks a lot for writing it.
Thank you very much! I love the visuals of the film, and I think I may not have done all of them justice. I am very pleased that you enjoyed the changes I made to the story. I always felt that Neytiri (whose place Jared took) wasn't as fully fleshed out as she could have been, so I'm really glad that the story worked for you. :)
