I haven't talked much on applying for a job at the Office shoe shop in Central London (near Russell Square train station to be precise and not far from King's Cross). I haven't done a mock interview, yet, or did any prepariations of any kind.

Miss B advised me to call them on Saturday just to remind them that I had applied for the job at the shop ( Read more... )

Do you have to talk a lot in interviews? On yourself or why you chose this job?The interviews that I've done didn't involve a lot of talking on my part. Mostly the person doing the interview would tell me about the job, ask me if I was able to preform certain tasks required of the job, ask me when I was available, and sometimes inquire into any previous experience I had that I thought made me suitable for the job. Mostly I've only ever had to say things like, "Yes," and "Yes, of course." It has always been my experience that the person doing the interview will lead you through it. However, I've always gone to interviews with a reason in mind of "why I chose this job" if I should be asked. Also, if whenever I've been asked if I have/could preform certain tasks that the job required that I've never done or have had no experience with, I say, "No, but I'm a quick learner and have confidence that I will be able to do it" (or something like that). Also, if they do ask you about yourself, try to reply with things that share a relationship ( ... )

Thanks for the useful advice. I called them a while ago today and they said there weren't any vacanies but they'll hold onto my CV which is great...

I'm surprised that you never got a job after an interview. Your advice seems to be accurate and very useful.

Sorry, that should read I've never *not* gotten a job - so, I've always been hired after an interview.

And that's good that they'll hold onto your CV!
