The Stuff You Write

I enjoy reading, watching and writing legal thrillers. I find the law interesting with so many legal terms and cases I enjoy it. The books that I read are mainly legal thrillers these days, it doesn't only educate me but boasts my way of thinking how the legal system works. I know I have repeated on how much I love The Colour Of Law, but without it ( Read more... )

writer here. I'm just doing it for fun, but I want to publish a book one day (I'll probably have to if I want to be a university professor).
mainly I read either non-fiction books on linguistics, psychology, whatever is interesting or "indie" novels my friend recommends to me.
I haven't really read any books that are legal thrillers. I read a book called "Lovely Bones" that involved a murder case but I'm not sure if it counts.

I would like tom publish a book too. When my book is actually finished though.

I like the occasional non-fiction like books on interesting people or bands. Psychology is somehow interesting to me but I haven't read a book on it, although it may be resourceful to me when I'm doing characters.

Lovely Bones, never heard of that. Books about murder can be considered as a legal thriller if there's going to be trial, so yeah it counts.

I have written 3 stories in my life. One was a sidestory to something my friend was writing, featuring me finding a J-rocker in a forest and how I went about capturing xD
The second was one I wrote with my friend. It was sort of yaoi. I'd write one paragraph and then she'd write the next and so on xD It was weird.
And then the 3rd was written allll by me and was also yaoi xD

They were all pretty rubbish. I don't think I'm gonna write any more. Haha

Co-writing with a friend. Sounds fun. At least you can both share ideas with where you both want the story to go.

I don't think you should quit writing. At least you put in a lot effort into writing three.

Am I a writer? AM I A WRITER?!! strider7901 August 21 2009, 02:11:05 UTC
I've been writing short stories, flash, and poetry for about 4 or 5 years now. I took a creative writing class last semester and my teacher opened my eyes to publishing. So. I submitted some pieces a few months ago and got rejected. But I think I scored the university's magazine with a poem my teacher really liked and encouraged me to submit. I haven't written anything new yet...so...it's just the journal for now.

My old primary school teacher, who was also my Saturday school teacher, liked my stories and my work. I have never completed a story before in my life and I fear of rejection maybe my story was too long or complicated, or simply: boring.
