Oh, and newtrekslash... although the moderator advertised the comm by posting a big spoiler outside a cut on the trek2009 community, sheesh.

eta: hm, my mistake, I don't think that was the mod, just a random person hyping the comm. Still! We're not even out of opening week yet! C'mon people!

Very true. At least this one opened here the same time as in the US. For Serenity I had to avoid spoilers for several months, even though I saw it on its opening day here in the very first showing. I managed to remain unspoiled, but that was due to a Mad Moody-like constant vigilance and a total avoidance of Firefly fandom. At first it wasn't so bad, because while it had premiered somewhere, it wasn't in US cinemas or something, but then after a few weeks some of my flist blithely assumed that everyone who cared about spoilers would have seen it already.

I just liked that Uhura was much more present in this movie then she usually was in the original series/movies. I'm still not sure about Spock/Uhura.

It didn't exactly turn me into a Spock/Uhura shipper, but I liked them together in the movie.

Well, it's my birthday on Monday so me thinks I will just pad off to see it. Been thinking about it, then someone said it was rubbish, but if it gets the rat!stamp of approval then I'm in.

But, uh...Spock/Uhura? Mmmm.

All posts I've seen about it were mostly squeeful, though admittedly I don't hang out in hardcore trekkie circles, and several people disliked one thing or another in the movie even if their verdict overall was positive. IMO it's definitely worth watching.

The Spock/Uhura came a bit out of the blue, but it worked for me. There were lots of slashy vibes too.
