*sigh*

Recs page maintenance is a nightmare these days with all the moving, and worse, f-locking of stories. Just between the last update about a month ago and today several stories have been yanked, actually almost as many as I'm adding in this update. :(

Farscape

Unrealized Peacekeeper, by OneEye. Het, John/Gilina, John/Aeryn. (over 175,000 words) ( Read more... )

Well, I'm very grateful that you're taking the time to update and maintain your rec page. Thank you! Some of these stories look very interesting, and I can't wait till I get home to read them.

It's nice to hear that the recs page is appreciated. It's just so frustrating you know? For some now locked stories I was at least able to find archived versions, but not for all. I mean, it used to be that every now and then some stories would vanish, but not at this rate. I really dislike this trend towards locking fiction.

I just looked for a story on my own rec page yesterday only to realize that it and the one right below linked to deleted LJs. sigh So I hear your pain and I'm also really grateful that you're updating. I need to do that, but at the moment, I kinda don't feel like it (choosing to read more fic like the once you recced and I hadn't read instead :)

Another thing I've come to hate since I've started a recs page are the robot exclusion files. I mean I get why they're there, and I've actually considered making my own images non-searchable myself because much of my bandwidth goes to idiots hotlinking images from my site on MySpace and various messageboards (with my webhost's configuration I can't implement the standard anti-hotlinking measures, and my images not showing up on google image search might at least help with that), but-- I validate links with a tool to see what's missing, but since so many fandom sites refuse bots, I end up having to check over a hundred links manually with every update to see whether really everything is still there. At least there are extensions for Firefox that let me open links on a page in bulk, but it is all really tedious.

Thanks for the rec - I'm so used to being only a reader that it's funny to see my stuff listed here. Kind of surreal, actually. I keep having the urge to check that the links really do go to my stories.

I'm sorry to hear that the latest lj kerfluffle's giving you trouble - thank you for trying to find working links. Few things are more frustrating for a reader than coming across an enthusiastic rec, and then not being able to actually read the story because it's been locked.
