I'm in the process to color that Snape picture, and drawing bright sunshine just sucks. Why? Because for bright sunshine to look like bright sunshine you have to draw clearly defined shadows. You'd think it was simpler to draw shadows in such a relatively simple light, where you have just the one main light source to consider. But in reality, if ( Read more... )

That's okay. In the end when I'm sick of trying to determine what the shadows would really look like with construction lines and whatnot I'll just fudge something maybe vaguely resembling them (if you look at it with a lot of good will), after having successfully wasted several hours with trying (and failing) to draw them properly. And in a best case scenario I will hopefully remember to include vague shadow indications in the sketch right away the next time I draw something, since I find it somewhat easier to fake them on paper than to determine their places afterwards in my graphics program. *g*
