After playing with vista for 15 minutes and having it crash four times and being unable to close the offending programs without rebooting, I have decided that this is microsoft's most secure operating system because it'll crash so often on you that there's no way for you to LOAD anything to actually have stolen

I understand that Vista has had several patches which, if up to date, allow the program to limp along for the most part.
And also that its SP1 is to be released within the next month or so.
This is supposed to fix over 300 problem areas including the bulk of whatever remaining crashing, compatibility, and security issues may exist.
As I recall XP initially had similar problems when it was released as well.
Or maybe I'm trying to talk myself into this because with Vista I'll be able to save over $700 on the new system.
Yes?

I expect there to be some bugs on a first release, but I don't expect a PC to crash four times in 15 minutes or the new improved operating system to take windows 95 time to boot up.
I'd wait to see how well the patches patch.
I could very easily be convinced to go apple based on my limited exposure to Vista. Vista is about as buggy as my parents ME was and that was one of the biggest jokes of an operating system EVER.

I begin a second in-home job in two weeks and need MS Office in order to complete my work.
My other option would be to pay for these programs outright and install them for the time being on my current computer which is already crashing on a regular basis.
I went ahead and made the leap; guess I'll have to deal with the consequences.
MS Office Professional = $400
Windows XP = $200
It's nice to see you having such a good time.
I'm happy for you and am enjoying the break from sports talk. ^_~
Again, if it was live, which it sounds like it has been...
